Ricardian Bingo And Christmas Afternoon Tea - December 10

Article from pages 4 - 5 of Dickon Independent issue 59

Our final meeting of 2005 was at the same venue as our first meeting of the year, Upton Snodsbury Village Hall. There was a good turn-out for Jan’s game of Ricardian Bingo, which she had borrowed from the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Group.

We played several rounds, each gleefully won by different people who received a prize. The game was accompanied by drinks of wine and juice, our Christmas present from Branch funds. There were boos when Henry Tudor was mentioned and cheers for Richard and members of his family.

Once again we had a delicious choice of food to eat, far more than we needed. Everyone tucked in then enjoyed a cup of tea or coffee.

The afternoon wasn’t over because Ralph then tortured us with three rounds of his Ricardian Many A Slip. He’s a tricky man to outwit. Much laughter accompanied our attempts to correct his mistakes.

We did our usual collection instead of giving each other Christmas cards. This year the money raised is going to the Tewkesbury Statue Appeal.

Finally it was time to go home and wish everyone a very happy Christmas.
