Browse And Borrow - January 10

Article from pages 8 - 9 of Dickon Independent issue 51

As our first meeting of the year this followed the usual format of not relying on an outside speaker in case the weather was awful and we had to cancel the event. But as often happens it was a mild afternoon, and the morning’s rain had gone.

Ralph brought along the society’s travelling exhibition on Richard, our last chance to see it as he was taking it back to Geoffrey Wheeler in London two days later. Judith brought the entire branch library. This now contains too many books and magazines for her to bring to each indoor meeting, so we usually only see a selection. Of course she can soon bring along a particular item if asked.

I brought the six volumes of the branch history, and the posters about the branch, Tewkesbury and Mortimer’s Cross which we use at our displays at the battle re-enactments.

Members contributed plates of goodies to eat with our cups of tea or coffee.

The afternoon was not long enough for me as I wanted to have a good look at everything, and found I only had time to do justice to the travelling exhibition. Others were more selective and managed to see a bit of everything and find time to chat as well.
